Workshop details:

As women, we undergo various physiological changes throughout our lives. These changes impact our mind & body in different life situations. Understanding the integrated & holistic approach of classical yoga and adapting it to suit our needs, will help greatly in maintaining everyday health – both physical and mental. We can learn to age healthy and develop the skills to work towards peace, happiness and longevity.

This workshop series offers you the opportunity to understand and work with your own body, breath and mind and understand fundamentals of healthy movement, breathing & mental patterns for you. You will learn classical Asanas, Pranayama & Meditation techniques from ancient texts along with scientific understanding and explanations to be able to integrate these into your daily life. This workshop is open to all and no prior experience in Yoga is required.

    • Understanding and balancing them in my practice
  3. Asanas
    • Stretching safely without injury
    • Building strength is the key
    • Simple movements to work with for strength & flexibility
  4. Pranayama
    • Classical understanding of Pranayama from the Yogasutras
    • Pranayama – Sitali & Sitkari
    • Chest & abdomen breathing
    • Relaxation breathing & Nervous system
  5. Menstruation & Menopause
    • General Guidelines
  6. Emotional well-being
    • Resilience, Inner strength, self-compassion
    • Bhavas to cultivate with simple mantras
  7. Stress reduction
    • Relaxation breathing

SOUND MEDITATION

Workshop details

Sound is a timeless tool that allows us to connect with our body, breath and mind – to release stresses from the body, to deepen our breath and also work with our mind to create stable and healthy emotional patterns. The foundational texts on Yoga – Yogasutras, Yoga Yajnavalkya, Hatha yoga texts & the Sabda Shastras – Paniniya Siksha, Naradiya Siksha which are the ancient texts on Sound and Mantras – speak of sound & meditative practices based on Prana – the Breath, and Nada – Sound.
This workshop series offers you unique perspectives and practices to work with your own breath and voice. You will learn classical Mantras, Pranayama, Meditation and Sound work from ancient texts along with scientific understanding and explanations. This workshop is open to all and no prior experience in Yoga or Sound is required.

About the teacher

Nitya Mohan

Nitya Mohan, daughter of A. G. Mohan and Indra Mohan has been the director of Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda teacher training programs in Singapore for the past 20 years. She has been teaching for over 25 years. Trained from a young age in Yoga, Music and Sanskrit, she is also a lifelong practitioner. She conducts seminars, workshops and yoga trainings internationally. She is an exponent of Vedic chanting, holds a music degree and offers workshops on Yoga for Women, Sound for Wellbeing & Pranayama in Singapore and the world over. She is a skilled and experienced teacher and an exceptional singer hailed for her purity of voice.
